Math Professor Describes His Experience Teaching in High School for a Year

Math teachers are often accused of not knowing the content, so a mathematics professor from Harvey Mudd College decided to spend a year teaching at a local urban high school.

He found –  perhaps not surprisingly — that the issue was much more complicated than reformers realize.

His article in Notices of the American Mathematical Society is fascinating reading. And we should tip the hat to This Week in Education, which highlighted the piece. Middle school teacher Paul Bruno, who regularly contributes to the blog, offered his perspective on the piece.
