EWA Interview: Jack Jennings on the Funding Cliff
I caught up yesterday with Jack Jennings, president of the Center on Education Policy, about a new CEP survey that indicates tough times ahead for school districts facing a “triple whammy” of shrinking federal, state, and local revenues. The report is succinct but substantial and provides important national context for the budget woes plaguing schools around the country. Among other findings, the survey found that districts are slowing down their reform efforts because of budget pressures.
This doesn’t necessarily jibe with the narrative we’re hearing at the national level. How does it square with what you’re seeing in your neck of the woods?
