Common Core State Standards: Learning the New Content and Instruction Landscape
EWA will kick off its 65th National Seminar with a luncheon session on “Shifting States: Changes in Store From Common Core.” Ahead of that discussion, an excellent primer for getting up to speed on this ambitious initiative is a special report now available from Education Week on math, literacy and common standards.
The Ed Week report examines a number of aspects of the Common Core, including: potential roadblocks to a successful implementation; how teachers are being asked to change how they do their jobs; and lessons being learned from special education practices already in place.
Where is your state in the Common Core roll-out process? Are teachers more optimistic or overwhelmed? How much help are educators and students being given to prepare for what will be a significant transition in the daily experience of teaching and learning?
