Advanced Placement Statistics

Dallas Morning News education reporter Holly Hacker is known in education journalism circles as a master number-cruncher and stats guru. When she explained how reporters should look at variations in SAT scores during a recent conversation on the K-12 reporters listserv, her fellow journalists asked her for a more in-depth explainer.

Holly will give a primer on how reporters can dig into SAT statistics during an EWA webinar on Nov. 9.

In the meantime, she probed the numbers for a story about the exponential growth in students taking Advanced Placement courses in Texas. The article is behind a paywall, so the Dallas Morning News is graciously allowing us to share her article here.
