This committee is responsible for developing strategy for the organization’s efforts to advocate for education journalists and recognize high-quality journalism, including the National Awards for Education Reporting. The Awards Committee guides work on Strategic Goal 3: Advocate for the importance of education journalism and increase the prominence and visibility of effective, high-quality coverage.
This committee works with staff on strategy for raising revenue to maintain and grow the organization and oversees the management and reporting of the organization’s finances. The Finance Committee leads our work in pursuit of Strategic Goal 4: Ensure organizational and financial health to sustain programs.
This committee oversees membership strategy, policy and engagement; identifies members for leadership positions; and nominates board officers. The Membership and Nominating Committee is the go-to committee for Strategic Goal 2: Attract new members and deepen membership engagement among priority segments of education news content producers.
This committee oversees the development of strategy for the continued growth and evolution of the organization’s programming. The Program Strategy Committee is the go-to group for shaping EWA’s efforts to achieve Strategic Goal 1: Increase the skills and knowledge of our members to cover the education beat effectively.
Per EWA’s bylaws, the board officers are empowered to act as a steering committee and to take emergency action between meetings of the board. Such action must be presented at the next board meeting for review and ratification.
