EWA to Hold Seminar on Covering Latino Education Issues
The Education Writers Association will host a seminar on Thursday, Sept. 4, in Dallas entitled “From Preescholar to Postsecundaria: Covering Latino Education.”
The seminar targets Spanish-language reporters and editors, and other journalists interested in covering Latino issues, though sessions will be held primarily in English.
Sessions will address topics including how immigration impacts education, assessment of English language learners, and college finances. Education experts and journalists will be among the presenters.
Spanish-language media journalists are encouraged to apply for travel scholarships at the following link. Local media in the Dallas area are welcome to attend free of charge.
EWA is also hosting its annual Higher Education Seminar in Dallas immediately afterwards from September 5-6 at Southern Methodist University — “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Covering the College Student Experience.” Travel Scholarships are also available to qualified higher education reporters.
