Benefits of EWA Membership
The National Education Writers Association (EWA) is the professional organization for members of the news media who specialize in education. We support training and other professional development for journalists as part of our mission to increase the quantity and quality of education coverage. EWA provides members with a valuable community of colleagues and timely resources to help them better cover current issues and emerging trends.
If your membership has expired and you want to continue as a member, we want you to update your contact and background information. Please go here to review and update your current record. Please do not fill out the survey form for new members, as that will create a duplicate record.
If you have questions, please contact Glen Baity (email@example.com)
Make a contribution?
EWA no longer charges membership dues, but we need support from our members more than ever. Please go here to contribute to EWA's future. Funds will be used to build the EWA scholarship fund for journalists and other education writers, support our annual reporting contest, and help EWA expand online programming.
Who We Are
Journalist members spend a major portion of their time reporting or interpreting education and work for print, broadcast, blogs and online media with a general audience or circulation - or they freelance for these media.
Advocate membership is open to anyone interested in education issues - reporters and writers for education organizations and institutions, as well as educators, public information officers, education policy-makers, and others interested in the way education is reported. Advocate members receive virtually the same benefits as reporter members, but do not have access to the K-12 and higher-ed listservs. Instead, an advocate listserv is available for members to exchange ideas.
Future Education Reporters, Writers, Researchers
Students who have an interest in education issues and are exploring a possible career in journalism or in education research have full access to the members-only site and EWA publications. Listserv access is available to journalism students.
