EWA Webinar: Smarter Principals, Better Teachers

While the focus these days has been on teacher performance – and how to measure it – is there a critical element of the equation that isn’t getting enough attention? Are principals the potential missing ingredient in teacher success? How do you recognize strong school leadership, and how do good  principals become great?

We’ll answer these questions, and provide you with a solid blueprint for localizing the issue for your readers, at our next EWA Webinar: “Smarter Principals, Better Teachers.” The hour-long event will include presentations by four experts in this undercovered topic:

  • Sehba Ali, chief academic officer for KIPP Bay Area Schools in California, a former principal and charter school founder
  • Ann Clark, chief academic officer for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools, which is the recipient of the 2011 Broad Prize in Urban Education
  • Benjamin Fenton, chief strategy and knowledge officer and co-founder of New Leaders for New Schools, which offers training and development for principals and administrators working in urban campuses.
  • Jodi Spiro, senior program officer at the Wallace Foundation, who will discuss the organization’s $75 million “principal pipeline” initiative

The webinar will include a Q&A session for reporters to ask questions of the presenters. Webinar participants will receive exclusive advance access to the presentation materials, and the presenters will also be available for follow-up interviews after the event.

Join us on Monday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Space is limited, so register in advance here.
