Groark Named Executive Director of The Get Schooled Foundation
WASHINGTON -- EWA board member Marie Groark has been named the new executive director of the independent, non-profit Get Schooled Foundation.
Groark serves as the vice president for associate members for EWA.
She has been the senior program officer for Education at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation since 2002.
In her new role, Groark will be responsible for raising awareness about the challenges the American public school system faces.
Groark began her career as a social studies teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from New York University, a Masters of Teaching from Teacher's College at Columbia University, and a Masters of Public Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
The Gates Foundation and Viacom are the co-founders of the Get Schooled Foundation.
