Strong Debate On Both Sides Over Bill Requiring Dissection Option In Schools
Allie Petit knew she'd have to dissect a fetal pig in her sophomore biology class at Plainville High School, but she always thought her teacher would give her an alternative so that she wouldn't have to pick up a scalpel. Petit fought the school and was eventually allowed to study a dissection manual, instead. In the end, she got a B-plus in the class and succeeded in getting the school to change its policy so that students are now offered an alternative. Grace E.
