Class rank is low on many colleges' lists

Under a decade-old law, a high class rank in Texas still guarantees a ticket to the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M or any other public state university - no stellar SAT scores or glowing teacher recommendations needed. But schools outside Texas are giving class rank less and less importance, according to a recent study from the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
