Write regularly for the Early Ed Watch blog, contribute articles to outside publications, track and analyze ed policies, brainstorm new approaches to early childhood education and become part of a growing and vibrant team of education writers.
The New America Foundation's Early Education Initiative seeks a policy analyst to study and report on federal and state policies that affect early childhood programs, pre-K initiatives, kindergarten and the early elementary school years. Innovative thinkers and strong writers welcome. You will be initiating and conducting original research on Head Start, federal and state pre-K initiatives, kindergarten and the early grades of elementary school. Expect to write regularly for the Early Ed Watch blog, contribute articles to outside publications, track and analyze new legislation and regulations, brainstorm new approaches to early childhood education and become part of a growing and vibrant team of national education policy writers.
Responsibilities
- Draft op-eds and magazine articles on issues related to children's growth, development and learning, birth through age 8.
- Analyze federal and state laws and pending legislation.
- Draft issue briefs, summaries, and support documents for policymakers, the media, and other interested parties on effective early education policies.
- Use data and evidence of effective early education initiatives to develop new education policy proposals.
- Represent the Early Education Initiative at conferences and meetings inside and outside of Washington, DC.
- Assist the program team in conducting public events.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have the following qualities and qualifications:
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills.

An entrepreneurial, creative spirit and drive to develop original work.

At least three years of experience in early childhood or education policy.

A bachelor's degree or higher.
