EWA, OECD Partner for Education at a Glance 2012 Web Briefing

On Sept. 10 at 11 a.m., reporters can get an advance look at OECD's annual international compendium of national statistics measuring the state of education worldwide.

This year’s Education at a Glance report includes new indicators on early childhood education and care, on inequality in education and how a parent’s education influences their child’s academic attainment, and on the factors affecting the performance of immigrant and disadvantaged children at school.

Education at a Glance aims to help educators and policy makers see how their education systems perform compared to other countries and reviews their efforts to reform and improve their policies. The report also addresses: public and private spending on education; its social and economic benefits for people and countries; adult participation in education; class sizes, teacher salaries and decision-making powers of schools; and analysis of national exam systems and the criteria for attending tertiary education.

The report analyzes the education systems of the 34 OECD member countries, as well as those of Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
