Message From EWA's Executive Director

One universal truth every journalist knows: You can never tell
what tomorrow’s assignment will bring. Maybe you’ve been a K-12 reporter for a
few years now, and your editor asks you to start covering the local community
college. Or you’re new to the ed beat, and you have to write about end-of-course
tests for the first time. How do you get up to speed? Where can you turn for a
quote?
For these questions and more, we’re proud to introduce Story
Starters, a new resource designed to help you get acquainted with unfamiliar
education topics. This free tool will introduce you to important reports
and research, point you toward sources and organizations that can help, and get
you started asking the questions that lead to great coverage. Today, Story
Starters features 24 topic areas broken into three main categories: Teaching
& Learning, Policy & Management and Higher
Education. We’ll add more topics and features in the future, and update the
ones we have regularly to reflect the ever-changing conversation around
education.
Head to www.storystarters.org today and dive in!
All the best,
Caroline Hendrie
