Mikhail Zinshteyn
Program Manager

Mikhail (pronounced Michael) is a program manager at EWA, where he writes about education and helps reporters with their own journalism.

He’s from Los Angeles, was born in the Soviet Union, and graduated from Union College and the London School of Economics.

He writes for EWA’s blogs “The Educated Reporter” and “Higher Ed Beat.” He also manages the association’s programming on data journalism and the association’s annual National Awards for Education Reporting. Before joining EWA, he reported for The American Independent, where he covered state education policy, elections and economics. Mr. Zinshteyn earned a bachelor’s in Russian and Philosophy at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., and a master’s degree in comparative political science at the London School of Economics.
